In Jeremiah one, verse ten, “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.” Jeremiah’s message contained elements of both judgment and restoration; However, because of his place in Judah’s history, his message focused primarily on judgment and doom. The corrupt nation of God’s chosen place in the Old Testament at that time had to be torn down before God could plant and build anew.
“For unto us a child is born” is the beginning of Isaiah nine, verse six, which tells about the birth of Jesus Christ. However, “unto us a child” also begins for the parents and the environment that surrounds them as they start their life in the world. At the end of the theme verse mentioned, “to build, and to plant.” Do parents or guardians realize that every word, everything they do, every place they go, and every decision made for the child with them can have a direct effect on the child’s life? What they are exposed to could have a lasting influence as they grow older. God knows how much, whether little or a lot.
Parents must understand that if one spouse is living carelessly while the other is not, the child may inherit some from each, but the percentage is unclear. This only reveals as they live. Remember, minutes, hours, days, years, the children are seeing, hearing, and recording in their minds, and some parents wonder why some of their kids turn out to be what they did not expect.
“To root out and to pull down” can only be done through God. Whatever a child inherits from family members can either be good or turn bad. Those who desire their offspring to be godly begin with salvation through Jesus Christ. He heals, delivers, and saves. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places,” as in Ephesians six, verse twelve.
No one can fight spirits you cannot see or get a hold of. Only God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, can manifest whatever has been harbored within a person, within a child, that they have been possibly carrying through family, friends, or other associates, and ungodly environments that may be exposed to through them. It takes the presence of God with a Bible-based anointed man or woman of God, who lives a holy life according to God’s Word, and not contaminated by filthy lucre, to expose, bind, and cast out whatever spirit is within that individual through Jesus Christ.
