In Jeremiah one, verse nine, “Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.” God assures Jeremiah that his prophetic message would be inspired by God; his words would be God’s words, as in Romans ten, verse eight, “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.” Convinced of this, Jeremiah never compromised or modified the word of the Lord.
Those who have messages to deliver from God must not fear the face of man. The Lord, by a sign, gave Jeremiah such a gift as was necessary. God’s message should be delivered in his own words. The words which a prophet speaks, like those which were to be spoken by the Apostles of Christ, are not his own words, but those put into his heart by the Spirit of the Father, as in Matthew ten, verse twenty, “For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.”
There are many leaders within the churches today; Such as pastors or ministers, evangelists, apostles, and prophets. And by them, sermons or messages are preached and taught within the congregations all over the world. Still, how many of them are coming from the Spirit of God? How would believers know?
People who have a deep relationship with the Lord would be able to discern if the Word is from God or not because the Holy Spirit is with them. However, not all Christians would know, and maybe new converts who accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. The message from these leaders would either draw the people closer or away from God.
