In Isaiah, chapter fifty-nine, verse twenty-one, ” As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.” God promises those who turn from their sins and accept the Messiah that His Spirit will come upon them, as in John sixteen, verse thirteen, and Acts two, verse four, and His words will not depart from their mouths. The Spirit and the Word of the Lord will endorse the witness of the true church and her seed forever. God’s people must declare the gospel in the power and righteousness of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of God takes that which is Christ’s and reveals it to the believer. He takes His presence, love, forgiveness, redemption, sanctification, power, spiritual gifts, healing, and all that is ours through our faith relationship with Christ and makes it experientially real in our lives. Through the Spirit, Jesus returns to us to disclose His love, grace, and personal relationship. The Spirit works within us to do what is necessary to awaken and deepen our awareness of Jesus’ presence in our lives, drawing our hearts toward Him in faith, love, obedience, communion, worship, and praise.
The word of Christ will always continue in the mouths of the faithful, and whatever is pretended to be the mind of the Spirit must be tried by the Scriptures. The new covenant involved the giving of God’s Spirit to His people. And this Spirit shall not depart from God’s people while time endures. The Spirit will be accompanied by certain “words” which will be put into the Church’s mouth; and these words will remain unchanged and pass on from mouth to mouth, age after age, forever. The “words” intended are probably those of the entire Bible – “all God’s revelations.”
