In Isaiah, chapter fifty-eight, verse two, ” Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.” Judah was seeking God every day as though they desired to know HIs ways; yet, at the same time, they were living sin and in indifference to His righteous commands.
Today, congregations may worship the Lord outwardly, appear to delight in praising Him, and seem eager to know His ways; at the same time, they may be conforming to the ways of the world and neglecting the diligent study of His written Word. Such “Worship” is an insult and an abomination to God.
People in this condition cover all their wickedness with a profession of religion, from time to time resorting to my house, pretending to ask counsel of me, and to desire and seek my favour and blessing. They do not realize the devil has them under their control. However, some people do start off desiring to know the truth and to walk in righteousness as God’s Word declares. Still, the worldly desires and weaknesses to which they were accustomed would eventually come to sidetrack them.
There are people in the world today who attempt to seek God daily but have their own agenda in the back of their minds. God is just and knows the heart more than those who try to fool Him. “A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this,” as in Psalm ninety-two, verse six. All who desire to come to the Lord must come to Him with all honesty, asking forgiveness of their sins, and talk to Him about what is going on inside them.
