Seek ye the Lord

In Isaiah, chapter fifty-five, verse six, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” We must seek God while there is still the promise of His response, as in Jeremiah twenty-nine, verses thirteen to fourteen, Hosea three, verse five, Amos five, verses four, six, and fourteen, respectively. God’s time of salvation is limited, as in Second Corinthians six, verses one through two. A day is coming when He will refuse to be found.
The danger of an unbelieving heart is in verses seven through eleven of Hebrews three, “Wherefore as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest.” These verses are quoted from Psalm ninety-five, verses seven through eleven, which refer to the disobedience of God’s chosen people in the wilderness after the exodus from Egypt, as a warning for believers under the covenant. Because of their unbelief in the promises of God, disobedience, failure to resist sin, and hardness of heart, they were barred from entering the promised land.
Likewise, believers must realize that they may fail to enter God’s rest in heaven due to unbelief, disobedience, following their own desires, which can cause them to grow cold and hard. Lack of faith is the root cause of many backsliding from God into the world. Likewise, the unfaithful servants who plan their own thing instead of following God’s will can be dangerous.
