In Proverbs, chapter fourteen, verse one, a wise and godly woman makes her home a place of refuge, peace, and joy, whereas a foolish woman neglects her home and family. A woman’s highest position of true feminine dignity is as a godly wife and mother. After all, she is the mother of all living human beings that God created to produce through her.
The theme verse, “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.” No greater joy, blessing, honor, or fulfillment can come to her than when, as a Christian wife and mother, she bears children, loves them, and brings them up to love Christ Jesus and to live like Him for God’s glory. However, a Christian woman is unintended to demean in any way women who are not married or who are unable to have children. The faith, love, and sanctity of such women can be as great as those with family.
Scripture maintains in First Corinthians seven, verse thirty-four that the unmarried state is in no way inferior to the married with the possibility of offering undistracted service to God. They can concentrate upon the things that belong to the Lord in a greater way than the married. The unmarried can devote themselves with all their gifts to the Lord, free from the care of family, totally occupied with the Lord and His Word.
God has a distinct purpose for women about family, home, and motherhood. God’s desire for a wife and mother is that her attention and devotion are to her family. Next to her relationship with Christ Jesus, her home, husband, and children should be the center of affection and world; this is her divinely appointed way of honoring the Word of God, as in Deuteronomy six, verse seven.
