In Psalms hundred and twenty-four, verse one, If God is not with us, we have no chance to escape the pitfalls of life or ward off our spiritual enemy. The dangers and troubles we may face may seem so overwhelming that no one but God and His miraculous power can save us. Yet, as in Romans eight, verse thirty-one, ” What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” No foe or situation can defeat us when God is on our side.
The theme under God’s Deliverance section depicts the believer depending on God through the upcoming challenges and troubles unseen in the future. In First Peter five, verse eight, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” To be sober here refers to a person being calm, peaceful, controlled, and not talking about abstaining from alcohol. To be vigilant is about being careful and watchful. And not to get careless by letting our guard down.
Believers should be mindful of the enemy because he watches how we react to things that may get us annoyed or angry. However, if we let down our guard negatively reacting to whatever bothers us, the devil will attempt to use it again to torment us.
There is a song that begins with the theme title.
If It Had Not Been For The Lord, On My Side
Where Would I Be? Where Would I Be?
If It Had Not Been For The Lord On My Side
Where Would I Be? Where Would I Be?
He Kept My Enemies Away
He Let The Sun Shine Though A Cloudy Day
Oh, He Wrapped Me In The Cradle Of His Arms
When He Knew I’ Been Battered And Torn,
He Never Left Me All Alone
He Gave Me Peace And Joy I’ve Never Known
He Answered When I Knelt To Him In Prayer
And In Victory, The Lord Brought Me This Way,
