Blessed is the man

In Psalms, chapter one hundred and twelve, verses one through ten, the psalm speaks of the blessings in store for a God-fearing and righteous person. God promises to bless those who fear and delight in His commandments and written Word, as in Psalms one hundred and nineteen.

“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD, from Psalms one hundred and nineteen, verse one.” An impressive love for the scriptures from the Word of God that deals with promise, commandments, guide, testimony, teaching, wisdom, truth, righteousness, and reproof. Those who love and obey the Word of God will experience comfort, protection, treasure, and rule of life, delight to the heart and soul, and resource for all their needs. The blessed follower will embrace God’s Word by reading, meditating, and praying over His Scriptures. God teaches His people, and they will grow in grace and righteousness only as love for that Word will increase within the believer.

God promises to bless those who live by His Word with all its standards and directives. They will have a personal presence that bring them help, strength, and protection. “Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart,” from verse two of the same chapter. God’s testimonies will come through those believers who follow and obey His Word. “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple,” as in Psalms nineteen, verse seven.

“Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes,” as in Psalms one hundred and nineteen, verse three. The believer will seek God to allow Him to change their ways because they love Him. They will listen to His voice through His Word, which is a blessing.
