In Psalms, chapter twenty-six, verse eight, the psalmist’s happiness does not come from associating with the world, as in verses four to five and verses nine through ten, but from being in the “house” and “congregation” of the Lord, as in verse twelve, where God’s presence and power manifest among His people, where God’s glory dwells, as in Ephesians three, verse twenty-one, and where believer’s walk in God’s truth.
The theme is under The basis of judgment section, where the habitation is where the living God dwells and has residence in His house, the church of Jesus Christ. First, the church must have a servant of God, a pastor, who is a leader of a congregation who teaches the Word of God to people in the community. The duties of a pastor include advising and counseling of all ages. A pastor is someone who gives spiritual care to a congregation. This quality is only possible by prayer and a close relationship to God and His Word.
In Jeremiah three, verse fifteen, God said, “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” The people who visit the house of the Lord should be able to feel welcomed and feel the love from the existing members of the congregation. This experience should encourage them to want to know more about God and receive a blessing that will desire them to come again. The purpose of God’s house is to help souls change from their sinful ways to live godly and righteous, from unclean to clean, that the love of God will touch their hearts and allow God to save them.
Existing believers in the church must be helpers for the leader to be an example within the church and the community to enable others to want to come to the house of the Lord. Whether visitors or other saints in Christ from different churches and denominations. A believer loving the habitation of God’s house will experience this in the church of God. If not, then something is wrong. God can fix it through prayer and those who are in a position that love the Lord and desire to do so.
