In Isaiah, chapter fifty-three, verse twelve, “Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”
God promised to reward Christ for His atoning death, and Christ, in turn, promises to share His reward with all the “strong” in faith who follow Him in doing battle against sin and Satan through the power of the Spirit. Because of Jesus’ death on the cross, a great inheritance has been released to God’s people. Any gospel proclamation that does not preach the cross of Christ and its deliverance from the power of sin is ultimately doomed to failure; all such efforts will be empty of the presence of Christ and His Spirit. In the agony of the cross, Jesus interceded for sinners, as in Luke twenty-three, verse thirty-four: His ministry of intercession continues in heaven, as in Romans eight, verse thirty-four.
There are two sets of people on earth: the godly and the ungodly. However, within the religious sphere, there are two distinct types of saints: the strong in faith, who are the faithful, and the weak who are faithless. The faithless are not necessarily people who have no faith, but not much faith to overcome certain obstacles.
Similar to the prayerful believers and the prayerless. The prayerful saints will experience the strong presence of God surrounding them. However, the prayerless ones will be knowledgeable of God, but do not take the time to get to know Him through devotion. There will be only a few believers who follow Jesus Christ in doing battle against sin and Satan through the power of the Spirit.
