Let Him be your fear

In Isaiah, chapter eight, verse thirteen, “Sanctify the LORD of hosts Himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.” In times of danger and trial, God alone is the One whom we must fear and look to for our deliverance, as in Matthew ten, verse twenty-eight. Through a proper reverence and love for Him, He will be present with us, and be our sanctuary and protection.
In the theme verse, “sanctify” is to hold in high esteem. God should be our first solution and thought in terms of conflict and potential danger as believers and followers of Jesus Christ. However, there are still some people who claim to serve God and seek help from other resources, which does not guarantee the outcome will be in their favor. All saints of God should be conscious of Him in everything and rely on no one else. Psalms twenty-seven is for believers who look to God first, who is the author and finisher of our faith.
“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.” God will take care of those who show the initiative to seek Him first.
David was after God’s own heart because he would depend upon Him when situations became dangerous. God always makes a way for His servant because he went to the Lord first, and not anyone else. However, not everyone will draw near to God during trouble.
