The Lord is gracious

In Psalms, chapter one hundred and forty-five, verse eight, this oft-repeated refrain expresses God’s delight in showing mercy, as in Exodus thirty-four, verses six through seven. When He sees misery, it moves His heart to compassion; He is slow to become angry at our offenses and quickly shows love and mercy when forgiveness is requested, as in Exodus three, verse seven, and Judges two, verse eight.

The theme verse under the Goodness of the Lord section is about the Lord being kind and giving, which is what being gracious is all about. The first encounter with Gracious is with Joseph when he meets all of his brothers, including Benjamin, the youngest in Genesis forty-three, verse twenty-nine, “And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.” The story of Joseph and His brothers is an example of being kind and giving.

Despite what Joseph initially had to go through with His family, now being second in position under Pharoah, operating similarly to a Governor in Egypt as in verses forty, forty-one, forty-three, of Genesis forty-one, respectively. “Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.”

The Lord is gracious and believers can be as with others as Joseph was with His family. Ask God to help you.
