In Psalms, chapter twenty-five, verse twelve, the central part of the theme of this psalm is how God, by His wisdom, guides the faithful believer. The following truth is God has a plan for every believer. He had one for Adam in Genesis one, verse twenty-eight, and chapter two, verses eighteen through twenty-five. There was a plan for Abraham in Genesis twelve, verses one to three. There was Joseph from Genesis forty-five, verses four to nine, accordingly.
God’s people of Israel in Genesis fifty, verse twenty-four, Exodus six, verses six through eight. He had a plan for Jesus in Luke eighteen, verse thirty-one, for Paul from Acts twenty-one, verses ten through fourteen, chapter twenty-two, verses fourteen through fifteen, and chapter twenty-six, verses sixteen through nineteen. God has a definite plan for each of His children, as in First Corinthians twelve, Ephesians one, verse ten, chapter two, verse ten, chapter three, verse eleven, chapter four, verses eleven through thirteen, respectively.
God’s plan can be communicated to us by extraordinary means, such as dreams, visions, and prophecy, as in Acts two, verse seven, chapter nine, verse twelve, chapter ten, verse three, chapter thirteen, verse two, and First Corinthians fourteen, verses eleven through thirteen, relatively. However, the usual way He guides us and imparts wisdom to us is through the Holy Scriptures, as in Second Timothy three, verse sixteen, and through the Holy Spirit dwelling in our hearts, as in Acts eight, verse twenty-nine, chapter ten, verse nineteen, chapter thirteen, verse two, chapter fifteen, verse twenty-eight, chapter sixteen, verse six, and First John two, verses twenty and twenty-seven, accordingly.
Believers may miss God’s plan if they ignore God’s Word or misread it by making decisions contrary to His will. If the convictions, attitudes, and teachings in the Bible are not deeply rooted in our lives, we will miss God’s destiny for us and even possibly go astray. Righteousness lies at the root of God’s guidance, as in verse twenty-one, and Romans eight, verses eleven through fourteen, for God guides us “in the paths of righteousness,” as in Psalms twenty-three, verse three.
