In Deuteronomy, chapter four, verse six, anything that contradicts, modifies or changes Scripture must be rejected by those who follow God.
His Word, the Bible, is our highest authority and the ultimate guide to truth. Neither make new laws of their own and join them to the law of God and set them upon a level with it or prefer them before it. As the Scribes and Pharisees did in Christ’s time, who made the word of God of no effect, as do the Papists by their unwritten traditions. No person should not abrogate nor detract from the law of God nor make void any part of it. Or else the sense is, neither do that which is forbidden nor neglect that which God commands. Neither be guilty of sins of omission nor commission, nor in any way break the law of God, and teach men to do by word or by example, not a jot or tittle is put or taken from it. The purpose of the Word of God is to help guide the believer to know God in spirit and truth. To develop a close relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ while receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God will provide that opportunity as we continue to read and follow His Word.
