In Ecclesiastes, chapter three, verses sixteen through seventeen, “And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there. I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”
The theme under the vanity of all life section is that, in this world, the perfection of God’s purposes may seem marred by the injustice and wickedness. However, Solomon adds, we can be assured that God will, in His own time, judge the wicked and reward the righteous.
Throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, we find examples related to today’s theme title. In Genesis alone, Noah built an ark, as in chapter six, verse fourteen. And in verse twenty-two, “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” Although there is no detail of the reaction of the people witnessing the Ark under construction, imagine what Noah had to go through. The people laughed and mocked day after day until the Ark was complete.
Then, Noah gathered all the animals in obedience as in verses nineteen to twenty-one. Then, when the flood came, those same people would come running to the Ark, but it was too late.
In the New Testament, the four Gospels, with Jesus being the Son of God. The miracles, the healing of many people who followed Him as he taught in the synagogue, but the scribes and priests, who were religious, along with the Pharisees, who were far too see, and the Sadducees, who were too sad to see, did not believe. Later, Jesus went to the cross, before they all became witnesses to the resurrection of the Son of God.
