In Psalms, chapter hundred and sixteen, verse twelve, gratitude flows from the hearts of all those who have experienced salvation from the Lord. They will express it through their love, as in verse one of this theme chapter. Then loyalty, as in verse two, the righteous living, as in verse nine, the thanksgiving, and a firm resolve to obey the Lord, as in verse fourteen of this theme.
The theme verse, “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?” The question to ask ourselves as believers. What can I do to have this beneficial privilege from the Lord? There is nothing we can do to repay Him but to give thanks. To show our appreciation in return, believers should do as mentioned at the beginning: with firm obedience, righteous living, and continual thanksgiving.
All believers should avoid taking these benefits from the Lord for granted because there was a price to pay through His Son, Jesus Christ, to bridge the gap between God and humans to have that relationship through salvation to enable future eternity when it is time to leave earth to enter the pearly gates of heaven. All should remember that salvation came from God through His Son at a price that no one could pay otherwise. Nothing earthly offering is possible in exchange for connecting God and humans, but only God. The bottom part of scripture in Zechariah four, verse six, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
