Walking with someone is simple. However, by communicating with that person, we get to know them. Knowing someone eventually becomes a benefit.
Enoch undoubtedly excelled in godliness. He walked with God, which means He lived by faith in God, trusted in His Word and promises, endeavored to live a holy life, and embraced God’s ways while standing firm against the ungodliness of his generation.
Enoch was a preacher of righteousness who denounced sin and the unrighteous lifestyle of his generation. Enoch stood out against ungodliness and immorality. He warned people of God’s coming judgment to punish men and women for their ungodly deeds. “Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesies of these saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment upon all, to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and all of their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
Enoch pleased God. His life, message, and godliness so pleased God that God honored Him by taking Him away from the earth to be in His presence forever without experiencing death.
Believers today ponder the life of Enoch as an example, for we too live in an evil and ungodly generation. Do we walk with God, live in true holiness, denounce sin, and warn people to flee from the wrath to come? Do we wait for the return of Christ to take us away from this earth to be with Him forever?
Enoch sounds like a person who was all about God twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. If we walk with a person and interact with them every day, every waking minute, we would know that individual from the inside out. God wants us to know and desire to walk with Him in similarity to Enoch. Live for God, take a stand against sin, and win souls for Christ. Live clean from the contaminates of the world and meditate on God’s Holy Word.
