In Proverbs, chapter three, verse twenty-three, wisdom gives security because it keeps us walking safely in God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will. “He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known,” as in Proverbs ten, verse nine. God will not allow those who trust Him to be caught or destroyed by traps set by the enemy, as in verses twenty-five through twenty-six of this theme chapter.
The theme verse, “Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble,” is from The Blessing of Wisdom section. Believers today can avoid stumbling into the devil’s plan by following the Word of God. “O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer,” as in Psalms thirty-one, verse twenty-three. “For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed,” as in James one, verses twenty-three to twenty-five.
For believers to walk safely without stumbling begins in Romans twelve, verse two: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” The battlefield is the mind. Not to say there will be no trials for followers of Christ, but to avoid self-inflicting problems, start with daily reading and praying to the Lord to stay in contact.
