In Psalms, chapter thirty-seven, verse seven, this psalm reveals how the righteous must react when the unrighteous prosper despite their evil and immoral ways. We must steadfastly persevere in the faith while waiting for God to bring about justice and vindicate us, as in Psalms thirty-seven, verse one, Psalms seventy-three, Proverbs three, verse thirty-one, Proverbs twenty-three, verse seventeen, Proverbs twenty-four, verse one, and Jeremiah twelve, respectively. Patience while undergoing trouble or suffering is possible through the help of the Holy Spirit, as in Galatians five, verse twenty-two, Roman eight, verses three to four, Ephesians four, verses one through two, Colossians one, verse eleven, and Colossians three, verse twelve, who assures us that God will reward the righteous and punish the wicked, as in Romans eight, verse twenty-eight, and Hebrews twelve, verses one to two, and five through thirteen.
The theme under Blessings to the Righteous instructs the believer to exercise patience. The old saying “patience is a virtue” holds amid viewing or hearing about the success of the ungodly. However, for the godly, this demonstrates something or someone is working behind the scenes that the naked eye does not see or yet to know. Do you ever wonder why it seems so easy or natural for unbelievers to thrive in their endeavors while some believers do not? There is a spirit behind it working against some believers who endeavor to serve God.
“To wait patiently for God” is to pray while asking the Holy Spirit to help. The only way for believers to overcome is not to be overwhelmed with the physical way to worry or grow impatient but to thank God that He can do the impossible by trusting Him and holding faith. “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him,” as in Hebrews eleven, verse six.
