In Psalms, chapter one hundred and nineteen, verse ninety-eight, through our devotion to God’s Word, we learn to see life as God sees it, value what He values, and love what He loves. We attune ourselves to the thoughts of God.
To have the mind of Christ means knowing His will and His redemptive plan and purpose, as in First Corinthians two, verses nine through ten. It means appraising and seeing things the way God sees them, valuing things the way He values them, loving what He loves, and hating what He hates, as in Hebrews one, verse nine. It means understanding the holiness of God and the awfulness of sin. Therefore, receiving the Spirit and following the Spirit causes the believer’s values and worldview to become radically different from the ways and the wisdom of this age.
Commandments are significant to those who keep them. A family that endorses godly values in the household will approach and deal with the public and society from God’s perspective. However, that doesn’t mean it will be easy because there will be worldly pressure and challenges from unbelievers or the ungodly that arise against the believers dedicated to following the Lord. However, wisdom is from the Word of God because the scriptures are from God. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding,” as in Proverbs four, verse seven.
Proverbs twenty-four, verse three, says, “Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established.” Therefore, the commandments help shape the believer’s life into God’s ways. And with the Lord on the follower’s side, who can stand against them? “Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroyeth much good,” as in Ecclesiastes nine, verse eight. The enemy will use others to destroy.
