In Proverbs, chapter six, verse six, the sluggard or lazy person is one who pus off beginning what they should do, as in verses nine through ten of this theme chapter. The person who does not finish what they have started, as in Proverbs twelve, verse twenty-seven, follows the least challenging course of action, as in Proverbs twenty, verse four. Slothfulness, or laziness, is even more tempting in the spiritual realm than in the physical. God exhorts us to make our calling and election sure with all diligence, as in Second Peter one, verse ten, Second Corinthians eight, verse seven, and Second Peter one, verse five, respectively.
The theme is, “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise.” These insects move and build their foundation in various areas where you see them on sidewalks or dirt surfaces. They work together in rain or heat and do what they set out to achieve. There is no time to waste or contemplate, but they continue until they finish. People who experience this laziness or slothful state should notice how the ant works.
To move from being lazy or slothful begins with thought. The more you think about it, the less chance you will make a move. As mentioned earlier, slothfulness, or laziness, is even more tempting in the spiritual realm than in the physical. Many believers today are ambitious to do something great for themselves and others they love. However, they experience laziness in praying and asking the Lord to help them. On the other hand, some do but fail to pray and get to know God so He can direct their path into what they desire to do. Praying is not always easy, but consistency is the test to overcome laziness, with the inside leading the outside.
