In Deuteronomy, chapter six, verse six, it is God’s firm desire that His Word would be consciously inside the hearts of His people. Psalms One hundred and nineteen, verse eleven states, the Word be in the inner person to avoid sin. In the first part of Colossians three, verse sixteen explicitly says, “Let the Word of God dwell in you richly.” This accomplishment is only through daily and continuous abiding in the Holy scriptures. In Hebrews four verse twelve states, “For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
God expects the Holy Word to be inside of His people. How do we become the person we are today? Words. Many people would think it to be absurd, but it is true. Think about it for a moment.
Human beings read, listen, and speak words daily. On the other hand, people encounter others in different environments that use their eyes, ears, and mouth to engage in conversation regularly. However, what molds us is the time we spend doing these sensitive things and with whom is the key to our overall character, which will impact life now and later. The choice is ours. What we want to view, read, listen to, and speak or talk with, will determine our destiny.
The heart is the primary traffic area in our body where we receive words and other sensitive things such as thoughts and feelings. Therefore, if a person is around someone who talks about God, follows God’s commandments, and lives a righteous life before God. The results of being around that atmosphere will be godly. On the other hand, if a person is around someone who talks about ungodly things, follows the world, and speaks profanity, the aftermath will be ungodly. The length of time on either the godly or ungodly determines the outcome: what we allow or tolerate is the difference.
