The work of God a man cannot find out

In Ecclesiastes, chapter eight, verse seventeen, “Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labor to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.” Solomon recognized that no matter how wise we are, we cannot by our own wisdom explain all the works of God or His ways of His providence. Like Job, we do not have to know all the reasons; we simply need to trust in the Lord and believe that He does all things well. If we are His children, we are in His hands, as in Ecclesiastes nine, verse one, “For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.”

The theme verse under the Obedience to Authority section illustrates how God is far above the thoughts and ways of man. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts,” as in Isaiah fifty-five, verse nine. A man can prepare a sermon for a congregation of Christians and minister, and it may sound good, but it does not impact the souls that listen. However, if a vessel that is a servant of God yields to the Holy Spirit in obedience, he will be directed by the Spirit of God to speak, knowing “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts,” as in Zechariah four, verse six.
