The stones which the builder refused

In Psalms, chapter one hundred and eighteen, verses twenty-two through twenty-three, Jesus applies these verses because He was disregarded and neglected by His people. However, afterward, He became the principal stone of God’s new house, the church, as in Matthew twenty-one, verse forty-two, Mark twelve, verse ten, Luke twenty, verse seventeen, Acts four, verse eleven, Ephesians two, verse twenty, and First Peter two, verse seven, respectively.

The theme verses under The Lord’s Mercy section begin with the title “The Stones which the Builder refused,” which has become one of the most common expressions in scripture. This statement is also in the New Testament in Matthew twenty-one, verse forty-two, “Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same becomes the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?” In Mark twelve, verse ten, “And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.” Also, in Luke twenty, verse seventeen, “And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written: The stone which the builders rejected, the same becomes the head of the corner?”

The builders are the people. The stone is the Word of God. The headstone is God Himself. Matthew twenty-one, verse forty-two, is similar to the theme verses, while the other two are related to the first verse of the theme. People today must realize that their lives have been built on words given to them, whether they believe or not. Therefore, believers who obey the Word of God will direct their lives to God’s will. The headstone will be in the temple of believers who accepted God and not be like the unbelievers who have rejected Him.
