In Psalms hundred and nineteen, verse nine, how many believers keep their lives pure, resisting the immoral influences that characterize the ungodly environment in which we live? The second stanza of this psalm lists the following eight ways, one in each verse: by making an irreversible decision to remain loyal to God’s written Word for the rest of their lives. Second, by seeking the Lord in prayer, by committing God’s Word to memory, by looking to God for guidance, by taking an open stand for God’s truth, by rejoicing and delighting in what God says, by considering the outcome of God’s ways as opposed to the ways of the world, and by never becoming too busy to read and study God’s Word.
The Word of God represents both His revelation and His commandments and promises. The scriptures cleanse the unbeliever to a believer, from ungodly to godly, and change the sinner to a follower. The Word works on the heart because the Scriptures come through the Spirit of God. In the Gospel of John, chapter one, verse one, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Son of God, Jesus Christ, saves us while the Word of God strengthens us.
If there is no Word, there is no power: No prayer, no fire. The Word of God allows the believer to keep the enemy from invading our territory. A person cleanses their way through reading and studying the scriptures. To meditate and memorize to counter the attack of the devil. People must realize that how we live now and what we do comes from words. It takes someone through conversation, letters, or messages to influence choices made in life, whether positive or negative. The Word of God cleanses all ways.
