Righteousness delivereth from death

In Proverbs, chapter ten, verses two through seven, the scriptures contrast the blessings of righteous living with the unhappiness of wicked living. The theme title from verse two, “Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.” This portion of Scripture, from The Proverbs of Solomon section, describes the potential differences in the lives of the righteous and the wicked.

“The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish” is the beginning of verse three, which describes God’s general providence and provision in meeting the physical needs of His people, as in Matthew six, verses eleven, and thirty-three, respectively. The truth is, there may be times when we encounter difficulties in providing for our families and ourselves. In times of war, famine, or devastating economic or social conditions. Going through periods of persecution, resulting in severe hardship for the righteous. Nevertheless, God will never abandon His children who trust fully in Him.

“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich” is verse four, which does not necessarily mean financially, but physically and spiritually. ” He that sleepeth in harvest” is in the middle of verse six. How shameful it is to be lazy when there is physical work, as in Proverbs six, verse nine, and Proverbs nineteen, verse fifteen. How much more shameful it is to refuse selfishly to work for the harvest of souls. We must heed the words of Jesus and labor with Him for the salvation of the world, as in Matthew nine, verses thirty-seven to thirty-eight.

Righteousness is right doing or doing right. However, unrighteousness is the opposite: doing the wrong things, which is not helping others but hurting them for selfish reasons. All people will someday reap exactly what they have sown.
