In Ecclesiastes, chapter five, verses eighteen through twenty, “Behold
that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion. Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of his heart.”
When God allows us to enjoy our work and gain more than we need for our necessities in a just manner, we consider that what we have is a gift from God, used to help others and advance God’s cause on earth. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver, as in Second Corinthians nine, verse seven.
God is love, and love gives. Those who give willingly and not grudgingly will have favor with Him because He sees their heart’s desire. No one can fool God. Some will contribute, but not with a joyful heart, and therefore do not receive the blessing they expect. However, the joyous givers are the ones who continually receive blessings and enjoy their labor because they search not for it, and love helping others with their faithful giving. Those who rejoice and serve God with their giving will always have favor with God.
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. This means to exult ourselves in Him. Rejoice with them that do rejoice.
