In Psalms, chapter eighty-four, verse eleven, this promise is directed to believers who sincerely strive to live godly and righteous lives. What God regards as good relates directly to fulfilling His purpose for our lives. Our task is to walk uprightly and to trust God to furnish everything good: physically and spiritually, temporarily and externally, as in Psalms thirty-four, verse ten, Matthew six, verse thirty-three, Romans eight, verse twenty-eight, First Corinthians two, verse nine, First Timothy four, verse eight, respectively.
The theme verse under the Longing for the Sanctuary section depicts the believer’s desire to be in God’s presence. They will be in His house praising Him. “Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them,” as in Psalms eighty-four, verse five. And the saints declare in Psalms eighty-four, verses nine through ten, “Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.”
The title theme, “No Good Thing Will He Withhold,” comes from having a heart for God and focusing on God’s things rather than earthly things. To recap, as a believer, the presence of the Holy One, praising Him, strength and heart are dependent upon the Lord, and claiming He is the protector all indicate the ways of God. When the Creator sees this attitude from His people for the spiritual things, He will not refrain from giving His children the earthly things they need. The Lord sees the heart of every believer so it is impossible to fool Him. God knows the hearts and minds of people: what we think and plan, He already knows.
