In Job, chapter twenty-seven, verse four, the servant of God is among the finest examples of endurance in conviction, adherence to righteousness, and perseverance in the faith, as in James five, verse eleven. His unswerving determination to maintain his integrity and remain faithful to God is unparalleled in the salvation history of the faithful. No temptation, suffering, or apparent silence from God could drive him away from allegiance to God and His word, as in Isaiah forty-five, verse twenty-one. Job refuses to curse God and die, as in chapter two, verse nine.
Similarly, New Testament believers must be committed to only one course of action throughout the temptations, sorrows, and dark days of life. With the strongest conviction, they must confidently continue their faith, firm to the end, as in Colossians one, verse twenty-three. They must never give up as long as they live, holding fast with integrity to God’s Word and His love. Believers must determine “to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and toward men,” as in Acts twenty-four, verse sixteen, and chapter twenty-three, verse one, First Corinthians four, verse four, Second Timothy one, verse three, and First John three, verse twenty-one.
This decision to remain faithful to God and steadfast in faith, hope, and love is not optional for the believer, as in Hebrews three, verse fourteen, chapter ten, verses thirty-five through thirty-nine, and Jude twenty-one. Doing so is their safeguard against experiencing shipwreck of their faith when faced with intense persecution, temptations, and assaults from Satan, as in First Timothy one, verses eighteen through twenty, chapter six, verses eleven to fourteen, and Second Timothy four, verses five through eight.
On His part, God promises by his power to guard His faithful people and keep them in His grace so that they may obtain “salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
