Mocketh father despiseth mother

In Proverbs, chapter thirty, verse seventeen, God requires young people to respect and obey their parents. To honor our fathers and mothers will bring God’s blessing, as in Exodus twenty, verse twelve, “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” Deuteronomy five, verse sixteen, is similar to the previous verse: “Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” In Ephesians six, verses one through three, of the New Testament, the same message is conveyed. “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. “Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)” That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” However, disobeying or scorning them and their instructions will bring God’s curse.

The theme verse, “The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.” Children today who obey their parents, especially those who live righteously, which is doing and living right before them, will enjoy the result of their actions and upbringing. Parents must realize that what they do behind closed doors, as well as in public, even when they are not present, could impact their way of living.

On the other hand, if children refuse to follow the godly ways set by their parents, it will affect their lives as they get older. The environment for each kid is significant because it determines whether they will grow up to be good or bad.
