Love the Lord thy God

In Deuteronomy, chapter six, verse five, God seeks fellowship with His people and gives them one indispensable command that will attach them to Himself. By responding in love, gratitude, and loyalty to Him for His love, they will come to know and enjoy Him in a covenant relationship. On this, the first and great commandment, along with the second commandment to love one’s neighbor, hang all the laws and the prophets. Obedience to God and His commandments is possible only when it springs from faith in and love for God.
Today, there are three types of people that know God. The individuals that attempt to do to get something from God, the ones who live their way of life before God, and the people of God that serve Him with love. The first group of people will claim to live for Him, but their hearts are on what they can get. The first four commandments out of the ten in Exodus twenty, verse seventeen, are about God, which the group already broke the first two. Church people whose hearts are on things instead of their relationship with God will not realize it. However, the one above knows, and no human being will outsmart Him. Similar to an example of a person in a relationship for money or gifts: it never works out.
The next group of church people is the ones who live on their terms. They are more dangerous than the first group because they may have broken all the commandments by living their earthly lifestyle. Instead of God leading them, they attempt vice versa.
The last group is believers in a relationship with God, where they do everything in love for Him. These followers keep His commandments and trust His Word to lead and guide them. The first two groups miss the mark because they forget it is a relationship with God which means together. The first group is things, while the second group they are leaders. The last group is about relationships, where there is a bond, and God is love. A couple in a relationship communicates and does things and enjoys the day at some point together. God loves that.
