Long life and peace

In Proverbs, chapter three, verse two, obeying God and living by His holy principles will result in better health, as in verse eight, a longer life, and a happier and more prosperous life, as in verse sixteen. However, this general principle must not be considered a guarantee of no exceptions. At times, the righteous are afflicted, as in chapters one through two of Job, and do not live long lives, as in Acts seven, verses fifty-nine to sixty. Conversely, sometimes the wicked are healthy and prosperous, as in Psalms seventy-three, verse three, and verse twelve, and James five, verse five. However, their final judgment is sure, as in Psalms seventy-three, verses seventeen through twenty, and James five, verses one to four, respectively.
The theme verse, “For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.” For believers, godly living by following God’s Holy Word will benefit them spiritually and physically. However, that does not include all because it all depends on God’s will for each individual who serves the Lord. At the end of Ecclesiastes twelve, verse thirteen, “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Other benefits for long-lasting life and peace include family, friends, choices, eating habits, physical care, attitude, and how we treat others.
On the other hand, some wicked people live long lives. These individuals have this privilege due to their wealth, proper health, not worrying about things, eating healthy, and enjoying nature and the outdoors. Despite all these qualities, without God involved in a person’s life, doing all those mentioned above may provide temporary relief but still will not guarantee happiness. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, as in Philippians four, verse seven.
