In Ecclesiastes, chapter five, verse one, “Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.” Entering the house of God should be reverent rather than carefree. Be spiritually prepared before coming; then be ready to hear and obey what you hear.
Believers who prepare their hearts spiritually by praying before going to the service in the sanctuary of the Lord most often receive from Him. The presence of God is not produced by flesh, nor by power, but by the Spirit of God, as in the latter part of Zechariah four, verse six, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” The reason many people who attend church and at the end of the day do not receive anything from God is that they go to His house spiritually unprepared. Many churchgoers who attend church basically get out of bed, look for some nice clothes to wear, and then go on their way.
To receive from God in His sanctuary, they must come with a prayerful heart and then enter His house with thanksgiving, as in Psalm one hundred, verse four, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Many churchgoers prepare their clothes to wear on the outside, but do not prepare their hearts on the inside. Therefore, many miss the move and manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the church because they came to church spiritually unprepared. Keeping our hearts and minds steadfast on God before entering His Holy sanctuary will only make the spiritual connection so much easier between God and the hearts of saints.
