If thou be silent

In Psalms, chapter twenty-eight, verses one through nine, a believer may feel that God is not listening to their prayers, as in verses one to three. The experience will not be the norm as long as we continue to draw near to God through Christ, as in Hebrews four, verse sixteen, and chapter seven, verse twenty-five. After a trial period, the Lord will respond and help us as a shepherd who cares for his sheep.
Although believers may not hear anything from God or see any evidence of direction, saints of God must remember that He is there and able. The songwriter of this song begins like this:
We have come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord,
trusting in His Holy Word,
He never fails me yet.
Oh, Oh, Oh, we can’t turn back,
We come this far by faith.
Hebrews eleven, verse six, puts things in perspective: “But without faith, it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” When we pray to the Heavenly Father, we must come boldly to the throne of grace, where we speak to Him daily. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, sympathizes with our weaknesses and can confidently approach Him, knowing that our prayers and petitions are welcome and desired. The “throne of grace” is where God’s love flows, where believers will find help, mercy, forgiveness, wisdom, God’s power, spiritual gifts, the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and all we need in any circumstances. One of the great blessings of salvation is that Christ is now our High Priest, our Mediator, who opens the way for us to come to the Father confidently for all areas of need in our lives.
