i will praise the lord

In Psalms, chapter fifty-six, verse four, we should praise God for His righteous commandments, promises, and every sentence He pronounces in all scripture in times of fear and trouble, as in Psalms one hundred and nineteen. As we place our trust in God and His written Word, trust replaces fear, as in verses four and eleven, and God becomes our helper and deliverer, as in verse thirteen. Remember the truth, “God is for me.”

The theme of A Song for the Distressed depicts the psalmist asking God for mercy against the enemies who come daily to fight to cause oppression. However, the theme verse is to praise God and trust Him during these unpleasant experiences, although it may be a disadvantage for the believer. The enemy will attempt to use the ungodly to provoke the godly and force them into wrongdoing. Still, the righteous respond by praising the Lord because we have the Almighty God on our side. Remember, the enemy is an illusionist and uses deception to physically try and fool the godly into making wrong choices to sin.

In the first part of John ten, verse ten, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” However, in the second part of the verses above, God does the opposite. “I come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” This is why the believer has the opportunity to praise the Lord during these times because we are claiming with this response that God will come through on our behalf. Believers not only confuse the enemy but also make him uncomfortable because he expects us to turn away from God not praise Him. When believers continue to praise God we cast out worry and fear, and God will see our faith and will intervene on our behalf. Let’s praise Him before the help and deliverance come because we are showing the enemy that it will happen. Praise God!
