In Psalms, chapter one hundred and twelve, verse seven, the psalmist is not moved by fear and anxiety in times of trouble because his trust is in the Lord and not in himself and external circumstances, as in Psalms thirty-seven.
The theme under The Prosperity of the Righteous section expresses those who are not fearful but are fearless because of whom they depend upon: the Almighty God. In the latter part of Zechariah four, verse six, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Many Christians proclaim to believe and trust God. However, their actions speak louder than words: Instead of praying and faithfully looking to the Lord to provide, some are still mentally thinking and physically searching to find ways to apply to the matter themselves. While humans are merely ordinary, God is extraordinary and desires to do what we can’t do for ourselves.
The first part of Psalms thirty-seven says, “Fret not thyself because of evildoers.” Believers who believe and obey will “Trust in the LORD, and do good,” as in verse three. The saints of God shall “Commit thy way unto the LORD,” as in verse five. The people of God can “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him.” Believers will “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil,” as in verse eight.
As the children of God continue to obey and abide in His Word, they shall experience verse eleven of Psalms thirty-seven, “But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” In verse twenty-three, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” Those who do what His Word says will not be afraid.
