In Song of Solomon, chapter three, verse eleven, “Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.” Because of the intercession of Bethsheba, Solomon’s mother, and the prophet Nathan, Solomon was brought out publicly and anointed King, as in First Kings one, verses twenty-two through forty. “The day of his espousals” is his wedding day. It appears that when Solomon was brought out and anointed King, he was already married and wearing the crown his mother had placed on him. Also in view are God’s covenant promises given to Solomon.
Second Samuel seven, verses thirteen to sixteen, under Nathan’s prophecy section, declares for Solomon, “He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.”
