Fear them not

In Joshua, chapter ten, verse eight, even though the Israelites had made a mistake entering into a covenant with the Gibeonites, God helped His people defend them. Often failures that cause us to miss the perfect will of God are used by Him as occasions to demonstrate His faithfulness and love to us.
God said to Joshua, “fear them not.” Either upon the march or while he was proceeding on his journey to the assistance of the Gibeonites. He probably consulted the Lord on this occasion, having, it may be, some doubt on his mind, whether he should go to their assistance since the association between them was obtained by fraud. God was referring to the five kings and their combined armies. The Lord indicates to Joshua that He has delivered them into their hands.
The message to Joshua means the victory is already His and the people of Israel. All they have to do is follow through, knowing that God is with them to the end. Even though God reassures them of victory, they still have to show up and fight. Their opposition is looking for them to come and challenge them. If the Israelites were a no-show, it would make their enemies believe they feared them.
Today, people fear many different things. Believers who trust in God need not be afraid. If God gives the word and we get confirmation, we need to believe and follow through. Let’s say, Joshua received the Word from God but did not show up to fight; what would happen? The enemies would believe the Israelites are fearful and their faith in God is not there.
Believers today must not fear because it cripples the faith. Fear torments, and it is a spirit. Believe God’s Word and speak it out against whatever opposition you face. If bills are the enemy, say, “God shall supply all my needs,” and thank Him. Jesus used the word in the wilderness. We must do the same. The Word of God spoken will boost your faith and replaces worry and fear. Fear them not.
