“Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.” Job 2:9
Have durable integrity? The person to have this capability derives from constantly overcoming unjust adversity. The ability to resist the temptation of sinful retaliation in whatever trials we may face without losing faith in God.
Job in the Bible is a prime example of facing temptation from his spouse: his wife. She wanted him to curse God and die. The underline is Job’s wife wanted him to give up on God and find a solution to the problems that he was experiencing. Some of us Christians or believers may find ourselves giving up because of the circumstances. The enemy wants the people of God not to depend upon Him. Especially in the bad times. The enemy desires to lure us away from the Creator of the universe to follow the world. The devil will continue to strive and create different scenarios of diverting our attention from God to something else. The enemy does not want our relationship with God to exist because he knows it will build trust and confidence for people. Therefore, it will be more difficult for the devil himself to deceive. Furthermore, the enemy is afraid of God’s people rebuking or binding him with the Word of God. The threat of the believers trusting in the Holy One is a problem for the evil one.
Durable integrity is not easy to sustain. God will test believers at times to see where our heart dwells. Does it abide with Him?
God will test us at times to see if we love Him or love Him because of what He can do for us. After all, He is God.
There are only a handful of people in the Bible that demonstrate having durable integrity. Abraham, in the book of Genesis, a man who traveled in trust. Despite the ups and downs in his life, he always seems to stay on course with God’s plan even though he experienced times of adversity. Joseph, among his brothers, maintains his durable integrity in light of what they did to Him. He trusted God and follow the plan even when he did not feel like it.
Peter, in the New Testament, did not let his failures define him. His determination is a result of having durable integrity. John, in the New Testament, a man who lived for another. Elisha, an example of the power of love, making his life a blessing to others.
