Come now and let us reason together

In Isaiah, chapter one, verse eighteen, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” God was not willing to condemn and destroy His people. He offered full forgiveness and pardon if they would only repent, put away evil, strive to do right, and obey His Word, as in these verses sixteen through nineteen of the same chapter. God’s forgiveness is now available for all who, though they have sinned, confess their sins, repent, and accept God’s cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ, as in Luke twenty-four, verses forty-six to forty-seven, and First John one, verse nine, respectively. Those who refuse God’s mercy and choose instead to cling rebeliously to their own ways will be destroyed.
The theme verse, under the Israel’s rebellion section, depicts God reaching out in love to His people from living the broadway of life to the straight and narrow pathway of living. “Come now, and let us reason” is the theme title. Not only feel sorrowful for the sin committed, but to break off the practice. We must be doing, not standing idle. We must be doing the good, the Lord our God requires.
It is plain that the sacrifices of the law could not atone, even for outward national crimes. But, blessed be God, there is a Fountain opened, in which sinners of every age and rank may be cleansed. Life and death, good and evil, are set before us. O Lord, incline all of us to live to thy glory. God is calling out to those who will listen because He loves every one of His people. All we have to do is respond.
