In Psalms, chapter sixty-six, verse five, a community of believers must have the works of the Holy Spirit so manifested in their midst that they can glorify God and say to others, “Come and see the works of God.” Nothing short of the full demonstration of God’s power among His people will convince the lost of the truth of the gospel of Christ. We must also witness to others giving testimony of God’s saving grace and goodness in our lives.
The theme verse under God’s Power and Works section describes the first four verses of the psalmist’s joyful celebration. The psalmist sings praise gloriously and expresses dramatically how great His works are, that the enemies cannot do anything but yield to the manifestation.
God’s works and power will come through a believer who yields to prayer and devotion to the Lord. That is only the beginning because the servant of God would have to desire other spiritual gifts. Before that happens, obedience from the servant of God is required to carry God’s power when demonstrated through the vessel. The relationship with God is a loving one. The believer’s life includes time praying, reading, and studying the Word of God and being a doer of it, praising, worshipping Him, and living in righteousness in the sight of God and among the people within their environment.
The works of God are from the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of God. The believer must follow His leading of the Holy Spirit, for He is a person. In Genesis one, verses one through two, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
