Be still

In Psalms, chapter forty-six, verse ten, to be still is to let go. To quit holding on to things that keep you from exalting God and giving Him His place in your life. What can stop a believer from giving the Lord the top spot in the heart is some things or something. A situation, a relationship, problems, an upcoming event, awards, rewards, hobbies, family, or work. These things can hinder people from knowing the Lord and saints of God in serving Him.

The title of this theme is a part of the most recitable verses and memorable chapters in the Bible. Psalms forty-six is about The Presence of God in Calamity, which is the chapter of the heading. The theme verse ten comes after the opening verse that presents God on the scene for any circumstance for those who depend upon Him. Especially believers who are in a close relationship with Him. Verses two through three briefly describe no matter how severe the situation, problem, or trouble the person encounters, the people of God should not panic or be frightened.

In verse four, there is a river, the way through God. God is right there when the faithful sincerely call upon Him. When believers say the name of Jesus Christ and regularly call upon His name, He will always be there right on time, as in verse five. However, in verse six of the same chapter, there will be a reaction either from the enemy or the people he currently has under his control to oppose the saints of God, where he has no chance when God speaks. Verses eight to nine demonstrate God’s mighty power that no spirit or human can match. Finally, verses seven and eleven are identical, “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.” The emphasis is to remind believers that the Lord God is the Holy One with countless angels at His command, as in Second Kings six, verse sixteen, Psalms sixty-eight, verse seventeen, and Matthew twenty-six, verse fifty-three, respectively. The Lord of hosts is in verses of Second Chronicles fifteen, verse two, and chapter twenty-seven, verse twenty. Selah is the pause or to stop and listen or reflect.

The theme verse is, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” All believers in crisis should let go and give God an opportunity because there are some things He can do that no other can.
