A stranger eateth it

In Ecclesiastes, chapter six, verse two, “A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.” A person may have everything they need to enjoy life, but still be unable to do so. The ability to appreciate what we have depends on a right relationship with God. If we are committed to Him and to His kingdom, God will enable us to enjoy His material gifts.

The theme verse under the “Vanity of Riches” section illustrates how God has bestowed His blessings upon His people according to His Word. “Therefore, let no man glory in men. For all things are yours,” as in First Corinthians three, verse twenty-one. The first part of John ten, verse ten, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Sometimes, God will grant a particular prayer that is answered by those who have asked and lived righteously according to His Word. However, there are times when the enemy appears to snatch away something that the Lord gave.

That is the first thing the devil does: he tries to take something granted from God’s children. Therefore, the people of God will have to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for direction on how to pray. Saints may be asked to pray and fast as in Matthew seventeen, verse twenty-one, “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Or Mark three, verse twenty-seven, “No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.”
