In Psalms, chapter one hundred and nineteen, God’s Word contains the spiritual principles that will help us avoid many sorrows, pitfalls, and tragedies brought on by wrong decisions and choices. Consequently, we must treasure its wisdom and steadfastly hold on to it in all life situations, as in verses one hundred and six and twelve of the same chapter. The theme verse, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path,” speaks volumes for the believer because it is from God. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
God’s Word is a light to the path. However, in Luke eleven, verse twenty-eight, declares, “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” When a believer keeps the Word of God in their heart, it will manifest itself in their life for the better. There is a difference between Churchgoers and servants of God. Churchgoers go to church and do not keep God’s Word because of another word embedded in them. However, the servants of God meditate upon the Word of God to keep out other words that would attempt to entice them.
In Genesis three, Eve in the Garden of Eden received instruction from the Lord concerning the fruit of the tree. However, Eve was not physically present when the Lord gave Adam instructions on what to eat and what not. Still, she knew because God made them one, as in Genesis two, verse seven. The serpent asked her in Genesis three, verse one, “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Eve recites to the serpent in verses two and three, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”
But the snake responds in verses four through five, “Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
God said to Adam in Genesis two, verses sixteen to seventeen, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
The deceptive words the devil used through the serpent are an example of how people are living in the world today. Individuals who come from a godly background live ungodly due to influences the enemy uses through others who give worldly advice that lures those people away from God and His Word, leaving the path of light into living in the dark.
