In Song of Solomon, chapter four, verse twelve, “A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse, a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.” The three figures of speech in this verse emphasize the fact that the Shulamite had retained her virginity and was sexually pure on her wedding night. Virginity until marriage is God’s sexual standard of purity for all young people, male and female. To violate God’s holy standard defies one’s spirit and conscience and cheapens the moment of marriage consummation.
“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body,” as in First Corinthians six, verse eighteen, begins the journey for the young people or anyone who seeks to uphold the standard of purity. The devil is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, as in First Peter five, verse eight. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, as in the first part of John ten, verse ten. However, in that same verse, Jesus Christ declares, “I am come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” Therefore, the enemy opposes all that God has done and tries to defeat creation by corrupting it with his agenda.
“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that you should abstain from fornication.” Once a child is born, they are innocent in His sight. They are pure in heart without blemish, and precious in His sight. The devil will attempt his cunning ways to wreck life with sin, especially among young people, and contain them with the carnal things of the world to eventually have them remain separated from God with the immoral lifestyle that is in the world. God is light who knew no sin until the devil came to corrupt.
