Gossip

butterfly, rainbow, wings

Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.                                                                                  Exodus 23:1

Gossip is a rumor to hurt someone’s reputation whether it is true or not. Why would someone bring news about somebody else to another person? What is the motive? Gossiping intends to sever any good communication between the victim and the people the victim knows for satisfaction. The gossiper that instigates these rumors are doing it because there is something the victim has or does that makes them want to get back at them in a bad way. The gossiper knows where they stand.
Gossip will only make things worse than better. Spreading rumors to the people the victim knows will hurt the gossiper’s reputation. People that receive these rumors in most cases already know what is true or not based on their interaction with the victim.
The sad thing about gossip is the people that give in to it and have no concern over who it hurts. Some people do not mind a few rumors here or there as long as it is not them. Instead of being honest about it, they are worse than the person spreading it. The worse thing for an outsider to do is to turn against the person that the rumor is about for no reason. Everything was fine until the rumor came along. Instead of confronting the person about it, they act as though what they heard is true knowing for sure that it is not.
Gossip is a relationship destroyer. All it takes is just one thought from someone about another and the exaggeration begins.
Anybody that allows the gossip to linger long enough will take on the identity of the gossiper. Gossip contaminates the thoughts of the people who listen. Gossip does not help lives, it only hurts them. If you hear any gossip ask them why are they doing it?
