Good Friday

cross, heart, jesus

What is Good friday?

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1 Peter 2:24

Outer

Good Friday is still widely known as a Christian holiday. It is also referred to as Black Friday, Holy Friday, Great Friday, or both Great and Holy or vice versa. However we here these terms that are used for non-spiritual things. For example, Black Friday is famous for sales or a special discount day.

Many people from various denominations and  others that honor the day will not eat meat and buy fish to take part of this sacred day.

Inner

Good Friday is to remember the day where the Son of God (Jesus Christ) was crucified for our sins for those who received salvation for their sins. This day is a middle part of the Holy week with Palm Sunday at the beginning and Easter Sunday at the end.

This day some Christians spend their day fasting, praying, repenting, meditation and even mourning over what Christ went through on the cross. That is fine. This day is to celebrate.

Fact

Good Friday is a day to remember what the Son of God did for mankind, especially for the believers. However, do you ever wonder why people eat fish and decide not to eat meat on Friday?

Many people of denominations do not eat meat to honor the day because the Son of God sacrifice His flesh to save us who were all sinners. Some traditionally do not eat meat because this is what they were taught. Others state that it is form of pleasure where the Son of God went through something that was totally opposite.

Well, whatever we decide to do, we do what we think is best.

Note: Nowhere in the Bible mentions abstaining from meat on Friday, or any other day for that matter. It is commonly referred to as a tradition of men, or church authority. It may be acknowledged during the 40 days of lent.
