In Isaiah, chapter sixty-six, verse three, “He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.” Those who worship God while choosing to live in their own ways and not in accordance with His Word, as in verse two, are an abomination to Him; such people will receive harsh retribution from the Lord.
An oblation is a holy communion. In Second Corinthians eleven, verses twenty-seven and twenty-nine, ” Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.” Those who come to know Christ through salvation but do not live according to God’s Word and choose to live their own way are as far worse than the four horrific examples given in the theme verse.
There is the narrow way and the broad way. The narrow way is similar to the eye of the needle verse at the beginning of Luke eighteen, verse twenty-five. “For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye.” The camel has only one way and cannot move to the left or right, and has no way of turning back. For this is how believers should live in Christ. By not going back to the old lifestyle
or following the temptation of ungodly things of the world. However, many Christians start right, but eventually they get enticed by other things.
