The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down

In Isaiah, chapter two, verse eleven, “The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.” One serious consequence of human pride is the belief that we can decide for ourselves, independent of God, how we live and what to consider as right and wrong. On the day of judgment, God will bring this attitude of haughtiness to the lowest shame and abasement.
Many believers make the mistake of making decisions without God’s guidance. The failure to ask the Lord for help because it may seem insignificant or too earthly. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding,” as in Proverbs three, verse five. God wants His people to involve Him in all our endeavors so He can provide the best. When believers make an effort to include the Lord in their daily decisions from the least to the greatest, He will direct their path.
On the other hand, those who do not include or have time for God, such as the ungodly or unbelievers, will eventually experience their downfall and will be defeated. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall,” as in Proverbs sixteen, verse eighteen. To make important decisions alone runs the risk of added hardship and losing out from enjoying those times freely as intended. However, they think to do anything they want anytime, only to succumb to their own narrow-minded way and suffer the consequences. Isaiah twenty-five, verse eleven, declares, “And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.”
