Sodom and Gomarrah

In Isaiah, chapter one, verses nine through ten, “Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. The cities of Sodom and Gomarrah were completely destroyed because of their great sin, as in Genesis nineteen, verses one to twenty-five. Isaiah equates Judah with these cities because of its great unfaithfulness.
Sodom and Gomarrah were located near the Dead Sea beside the Judean desert. This is where one of the shortest verses in the New Testament from Mark seventeen, verse thirty-two, declares, “Remember Lot’s wife.” Why? She turned into a pillar of salt. The geat sin in Sodom and Gomarrah was so tense that the two angels hasten the family of Lot in verses seventeen, “And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.”
The environment was the reason the angels were sent to get Lot and his family out of there before the wrath of destruction begins, as in verse thirteen of Genesis one, “For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.” God love the sinners but not the sin. For the sake of Abraham, Lot was remembered and given the opportunity to be delievered. However, the environment has luxury and many attractive things. Lot’s wife could not seem to get over that which made her look back.
